Check: getting started with Linux
A short quiz on the first two lessons. 5 questions, you can retake it.
Five questions on the last two lessons: what Linux is and the filesystem. Takes about five minutes.
How it's graded
The lesson counts as done once all five answers are correct. Got one wrong? Click "Try again": attempts are unlimited. Progress is saved only after you pass the whole quiz.
Under each question there's an explanation and a command you can run yourself
to check the answer. The commands start a temporary container (--rm removes
it on exit), so they don't touch your system. All you need is Docker running.
The first run pulls the image, which takes a couple of seconds.
Common mistakes
- Calling Ubuntu or Alpine a "version of Linux." They're different distributions on the same kernel.
- Looking for a config in
/varor/opt. Check/etc/<service name>first. - Confusing
apkandapt: one letter apart, but different systems. - Storing something you need in
/tmp. It will disappear. - Reading
du -shas "how much is free."df -hshows free space;ducounts what a specific directory occupies.
